Five years ago, former cop Mariana Esposito single-handedly built a lucrative private investigation agency, specializing in divorce cases. She had a knack for catching the wayward spouses on videotape. Still, she couldn't quite push her agency up to the next level. For that she needed some media sizzle.

Enter Lyle Monroe, the down on his luck "Movie Detective." Mariana roused Lyle from his drunken stupor long enough to suggest a partnership. He has the name, she has the money. It looks like the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Mariana is all business, and seems to just barely tolerate Lyle's wise cracking.Though sometimes she'll laugh at his antics. Later. When she's alone.

An intensely private person, Mariana doesn't let people in easily. Plus there's a rather large skeleton in her family closet. But she might be starting to melt a little around Lyle.

Not that she'd ever admit it.
