When Marina left Shop One, Eddythe Shedden suggested to the owners that they approach Betty Tinlot with the job offer. They did and Betty managed Shop One from 1960 to 1969. Betty was born in Belmont, MA to a highly artistic family. Her mother was a well-known portrait painter and her father was involved in creating craftsmen homes.

Betty studied at Green Mountain College. She met her future husband, John Tinlot, while he was getting his degree at M.I.T. They came to Rochester when John was offered a job at the U. of R. Betty, who had always had a good eye for art, was a perfect choice for Shop One. When she left, in 1969, it was to open her own shop, Ten Arrow Gallery in Cambridge, MA. She ran this highly successful operation for over 20 years. Betty said, “Because of Shop One I had a wealth of craftsmen to draw from for Ten Arrow.”
